Writing
Writing we will focus on the 6 Traits of Writing process. It is important that students learning to develop their ideas, organization, sentence fluency, word choice, conventions, and voice. I will encourage your child to express themselves through writing. It is important that they learn to generate ideas that can then be put down on paper. At times I will ask the students to write without worrying about spelling or punctuation. At those times, I want them to focus more on expressing themselves through writing and not with the fear of making mistakes. Editing can be worked on once all their ideas are down on paper!
Spelling
At the beginning of the school year your child will be given a spelling assessment to determine his/her developmental stage of spelling. Students will be placed in a group depending on their stage of spelling.
